I ran across this while searching for small business books to start planning for opening an LYS. While I still have tons to learn, reading about the experiences of this author gave me some food for thought.
This was a great read for me. I'm just opening up a shop and found the information useful and thought-provoking along with a great sense of humor! I'm in the States so some of the legal/tax information doesn't apply but it's still a good reminder that those things need to be taken care of here, too.

Although I am not planning to open a yarn shop, I found Kath's advice and lessons learned useful for anyone starting a business. She is very witty and amusing. I read it through in one setting and enjoyed it immensely.
Though much of the book did not apply to me in many areas (U.S. laws are different) I still found the lessons and humor both informative and entertaining. She reminds me that to open a B&M shop, I must keep a cool head on and health sense of humor close to the chest.
Author is from the UK, so it talks a lot about things that are not relevant to the US. She has a witty humor and is very blunt about her own mistakes that she recommends you do as she says, not as she does. Very entertaining read with useful information to those who have never opened up a yarn store.
Told with dry wit, the author gives every details about opening and running a small wool shop - all the pitfalls and things to look out for, described in hindsight from personal experience. A really good handbook for anyone thinking of starting up in the business. .
