However. If like stories that are optimistic about the future (even if it is set in the past) and feature protagonists who are as apt to spit in the eye of the devil and then charge him with a wet mop....

Wasn't really sure what to expect before reading this short story. Was it scifi? Steampunk? Alternate history? Once I started reading it, I decided I didn't care. The story is a fun read, it's a great intro to a whole different reality, an alternate steampunk world where wonderful things like Blackie can exist. I found the writing to be be smooth in style, the dialogue realistic and the 'science' believable. It's a wonderful ss by an excellent new author, James Snover. I really do not wish to give away too much of the tale, suffice it to say it's really a fun read and I look forward to reading more by this author! And it's only 99 cents, can't go wrong with that! A great story and cheap too!
Jim created a fanciful way to introduce kids to some of the movers and shakers of science.
